I'm interested in what our DWI blog colleague has to say about this...not being accusatory, or intending to put Hunter on the defensive...he just came out in support of his colleagues, and I think that where there's smoke there's fire.

I'm not the shining knight of the legal practice in Collin County, and don't claim to be...but if you did something like this, and get demoted, fired or resign because of it...then you got what you deserved. And I'm not saying this anonymously.

Curtis Howard is a fine lawyer and advocate for the state of Texas.

At the end of the day, this was one DWI case, and it shouldn't cost 1/4 dozen lawyers their careers. Despite all the hype, cases in DA offices across the state - thousands of them - don't go to trial and get dismissed for one reason or another. It doesn't necessarily mean there is corruption running rampant.

I'm disappointed to see Curtis demoted. I have a feeling, though, that he'll be fine in the long run.

Apparently, Ms. Walker now works for the defense attorney who represented the defendant on the "vanishing" DWI case. Who, by chance, is the partner of the husband of another county court at law judge and who has a close relationship with the "higher ups" in the DA's office. What an interesting investigation that should be....
