Bill,
Well, Keith Self won the Republican side. I think this actually helps the Democrat Party and more Republicans and Independents will be increasingly interested in David Smith. Hopefully, someone will share additional information about David Smith. Hopefully, county employees will see what is going on and get behind Mr. Smith in order to protect the quality of their jobs.

Thanks

Two comments:
1) As was the effect statewide, the "Tea Party" is not an electoral force; just a forum for complaints. Sorry, but to be taken SERIOUSLY, you gotta produce at the polls.
2) WHY are Collin County results ALWAYS late? This election is actually NO different than countless results, coming in several hours delayed due to one excuse after another, dating back to 2000 (check it for yourselves).
To NOT have known that the GOP gubernatorial race would have driven lots of GOPers to the polls is piss-poor planning. Period. Yet it happens over and over and over and over.
Someone needs to ask why and come UP with a decent answer.

Its so sad that such an educated area could make such a poor decision. These people are tearing apart our party and our town. I think I might actually vote for David Smith... first time I will have ever voted democrat.

My thoughts - for what they are worth.

1. Wayne Richard - mercifully he is outta this race. He was the most unprofessional of all the candidates for any office - and scary

2. Surprised Ward lost - but glad Webb won. Shows the power of "one man one vote."

3. Greg Willis must have super powers. That was a decisive defeat. And it shows that he was able to build a coalition of voters of all stripes to vote for him. I'm glad he won.

My biggest gripe about the election is that the polls were crowded and the votes took so long to tabulate - and this happens all the time in Collin County. More voting machines and more workers - that will solve the problem.

Very happy to see voters elect Duncan Webb. I am worried for Kathy because I have no idea what she is actually qualified to do in the private world. Duncan was the best choice and will be a very strong voice on the court. The court might actually think about basics like, planning, transportation, future investments and efficient use of tax dollars. You kow, the things that Keith has neglected for the last 4 years.

The late results go back much further than 2000. Sharon Rowe and her staff have never been able to get it together. I quit being an election judge years ago because of the total incompetance in the elections office. The workers tend to talk down to the election volunteers. The way that office runs is directly a reflection of Sharon Rowe.
If the boards of elections wanted a new election administrator, they could have one in a heartbeat and then maybe the results would be posted in a timely fashion.

@Plano Resident - no, it's comments like the one you made that are tearing apart our party. The voters have spoken.

I have never been "talked down to" by people in the elections office when working an election. Sounds like a personal problem to me.

Lots of mail-in ballots to be processed/counted + higher voter turnout made for a long day for everyone at the elections office. These people work very hard and I appreciate their work.

People had plenty of opportunity to early vote - and with the lines that formed, some polling stations didn't shut down until 7:30 or 8:00. (I don't have the data on each location - just a few). On top of that, many of the Precinct Chairmen are also the Election Judge for their precinct - and it takes longer to get the machines back to the elections office due to the Precinct Conventions.

Davis........whatever,
Please don't worry yourself too much about Kathy. She is qualified to do many things and she always works very hard at whatever she does. The county is losing a very good public servant.
I wish Kathy and her family the best.

The tea party was able to produce results where there were less engaged, less informed voters (Doug Reeves in Frisco) and in the county wide races where it is impossible for the candidates to personally reach enough voters, esp. with such high turnout (Keith Self and Fred Moses). Many people who voted for them either do not read or they do not trust mainstream media. So they never heard about Self's embarassing stumbles or they didn't care.

Duncan Webb's surprise victory demonstrates the value of personally knowing people that will speak for you and associate your name with competence. His race was small enough for the personal touch to make a difference.

I love to see what I said 2 months ago could not have been more right... Comments here prove that the Plano "establishment" planned a 2nd chance to get rid of Keith. I said back in Jan that if Muns lost, David Smith would be the 2nd chance to get rid of Keith because Muns supporters would go to vote for David Smith if Muns lost.

David Smith, an ex Plano City Council member has been blessed by Plano establishment in the past and they have no problem working with him if he is elected County Judge. It explains why so many Dems voted in the Republican primary and why they raised money for Muns when they have a candidate in their party running.

This "vote for anyone but Keith” regardless of political party that will leave bad blood in the Republican Party in Collin County worse than the Powers vs Ward issue.

I don't dislike David Smith, he's a nice guy but unfortunately, you can put all the numbers together and even if Plano establishment and Dems pull together for County Judge, Keith still has the votes to win. Either way I predict this will be the November election will show the fewest straight ticket votes in modern Collin County history.

Steve-

You are correct, no chance David Smith beats Keith Self.

On your other endorsement, Kath Ward, Collin County will be better prepared for the future because you were wrong. When I hear someone like you, someone who is self-proclaimed, politically astute, endorse a candidate like Kathy Ward, it makes me wonder what you actually know. Steve, you can't disagree with the facts that Duncan has a business and public service resume that makes Kathy's look bite size. That leads me to believe that you were endorsing Kathy because she represents a rhetorical platform that you support. I think that the real reason is because you thought she would win and in turn....you know how the wheels spin.

Gini- I wish Kathy the best as well. I still believe that she will have a very difficult time finding a job that pays anything close to her salary on the court.

Steve - "I predict this will be the November election will show the fewest straight ticket votes in modern Collin County history"

I would conclude that says more about Keith Self than anything else.

So according to mckinneymom those who voted for Keith Self and Fred Moses can't read.
So basically mckinneymom the stupid voters voted for Self and Moses; two very decent men who want to serve Collin County.
Maybe they just didn't care.....those stupid voters!
