June 29, 2009
Reporter: KXII-TV Staff

McKINNEY, TX -- A district judge from Collin County is recovering after being hurt in a training accident over the weekend.

Collin County authorities say a gun loaded with blanks accidentally went off near Judge John Roach Jr. on Saturday.

Roach was part of a training scenario in a courtroom where trainers used props and actors.

Roach was taken to Plano Medical Center with injuries to both eyes. Authorities say Roach is now recovering at home.

Don't you wonder if the deputy responsible should be charged with assault on a public servant, aggravated assault or something. Trust me, if it was just a civillian who had done it to another civillian, the DA would be looking at filing charges of some sort againt the individual.

Hey Guest - I guess you have never dealt with the Collin COunty DA's office. There was negligence on someone's part. It is a chargeable offense. You are the stupid ass for thinking the system is fair and "accidents" make everything all right.

It's only negligence if a reasonable person should have reasonable known that injury could have occurred...I don't think this is negligence. Like the other poster said, it's an accident.
