Murphy, Roach and NBC - Videos
Last year's Dateline NBC sexual predator sting in Murphy is still being played out in the news.
The televised sting angered many Murphy residents and precipitated the resignation of the City Manager. Before the sting, Collin County District Attorney, John Roach sent a letter to Murphy Police Chief, Billy Myrick, cautioning him that The DA's office was "in the law enforcement business, not the entertainment business." Later, after the sting, Roach's office, calling the evidence insufficient, announced that they would not prosecute any of the Dateline arrests.
Yesterday, Dateline aired a segment critical of District Attorney John Roach's refusal to prosecute any of the arrests. Tonight, ABC's 20/20 aired a piece critical of Dateline and featuring an interview with DA Roach.
Here are links to both video stories and an excellent article published last month in Esquire Magazine.
